A year ago, I started a custom project on my 2000 Corvette.  It was 11 years old and the paint was beginning to develop a lot of chips from stones in the front fascia and around the wheel wells.  I also hate the front fascia design of the C% Vettes with its rounded nose, no grill and funky front license plate cutout.  So I bought an aftermarket front fascia and the pop-up headlights, which I also think look goofy when the lights are on.  I designed and built new fixed headlight pods with curved Lexan covers.  Then Mark Walling, my '70 Chevelle project partner, installed the new front end.  We added a 2010 Camaro grill, which is perfect for the Corvette - has the late '50's split bar look.  Then I fabricated a LOW front splitter.  The car got a complete repaint with five clear coats which were then sanded with 2000 grit and polished to a glass like finish.  Mark did an awesome job with the body work and paint.  We stripped the clear coat from the polished aluminum wheels and painted them a satin black, then spun the wheels and sanded the outer rim back to satin aluminum and then clear coated that.  I installed new drilled  and slotted brake rotors, and painted the calipers to match the body paint.  I installed some new rubber roff panel seals and lastly, I  painted some of the small interior trim pieces and part of the steering wheel yellow as well.  I also replaced the 8 disk CD changer with an iPod nano that works from the radio controls and added new tires.  Here's the finished product.
